SIR 2026 Deadline Extended: Election Commission Gives Voters More Time to Submit Enumeration Form Online

The Election Commission has extended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 deadline with millions of eligible voters still waiting to fill out their Enumeration Forms.

It is intended that all eligible voters must be able to verify and update their electoral data before the final voter list is drawn up.

The SIR exercise is essential to keeping the electoral roll updated and fresh with the addition of new voters, removing duplicate information, and correcting voter information.

The longer deadline has allowed citizens to do it from their smartphone without going to the office.

Why has the Deadline been extended

The extension has been granted after voters and election officials asked for more time, said the Election Commission.

Awareness campaigns and ongoing verification work were going on in some places and many of the eligible citizens wanted more time to file their forms, it added.

The Commission said no eligible voter should be left out of the equation due to time constraints or geographic locations for physical verification.

How do you fill out your Enumeration Form on the Internet

Voters can digitally fill out the Enumeration Form:

  1. Visit the official voter services portal or the official voter services mobile app on the Election Commission or voter services website.
  2. Log in with your registered mobile number or EPIC (Voter ID) number.
  3. Select the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 option. Fill in your personal and address information in full detail.
  4. If necessary, upload the supporting documents. Before submitting the form, the form should be reviewed.
  5. You must remember to save or download the acknowledgement receipt for future reference.

The entire process can be carried out in just a few minutes on a smartphone with an internet connection.

Who should fill the form

The Enumeration Form is important for:

  1. New voters who wish to be added to the electoral roll.
  2. Existing voters who are updating their address or personal information.
  3. Citizens correcting voter records.
  4. People whose details need to be verified in the revision process.

The correct information is submitted to maintain the electoral roll transparent, up-to-date and free of duplicate or incorrect entries.

Why SIR process matters

The Special Intensive Revision is carried out periodically to improve India’s electoral system.

Accurate voter lists help facilitate smooth elections, reduce discrepancies, and ensure that every eligible citizen can exercise their democratic right.

Even with the extension in the deadline, the Election Commission has advised voters not to wait until the last day.

Completing the form in time will enable the government to verify the documents and process applications before the new electoral rolls are published.

Final Reminder

If you haven’t completed your SIR 2026 Enumeration Form, this extension is a great opportunity to do it from the comfort of your home. With a smartphone you can verify your details, upload documents if necessary, and submit the form online.

Eligible voters should complete the process well before the revised deadline to avoid last-minute technical difficulties and ensure that their names are correctly added to the electoral roll for upcoming elections.
