Gold has been performing well in the past one year, with its price increasing 47.34 percent on a yearly basis. Investor interest is keeping up with the political situation in the world over the economy and monetary policy.

City-wise prices also varied across the major Indian markets, with Chennai recording the highest 24K gold price among the cities listed. At the top of the list were Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

The difference between 24K and 22K gold prices reflects their purity. 24K gold is the purest gold that is traded and is used for jewellery, while 22K gold has less metal in it.

Gold prices vary from one city to another for many reasons, including local taxes, transportation costs, demand conditions, and jeweller margins. The bullion rates quoted may also differ from the final price consumers pay for jewellery (which may include making charges and applicable taxes).

What Should Gold and Silver Buyers Know?

The latest prices provide a reference for bullion and precious metal markets, but retail jewellery prices can differ significantly. The purity of a product should be checked, and charges, taxes, and other costs should be factored in before buying it.

Gold and silver prices will change in the market during the trading day depending on the global bullion price, currency movement, interest rate outlook, and geopolitical context.

With gold up more than 47% over the past year and silver up more than 92%, precious metals are still on investors' radar. But past performance is not always predictive of future performance, and prices can be volatile.

Investors and buyers should therefore compare current rates across reliable sources and consider their individual financial objectives before making investment decisions.
