India and Japan have unveiled an ambitious workforce cooperation plan that will help strengthen economic ties and tackle Japan's labor shortage. The two countries plan to exchange 5 lakh workers over the next five years -- 50,000 Indian professionals in different industries from India to Japan.
The partnership is a significant mark in the India-Japan strategic partnership, which is based on our capacity to work together to develop human resources and skills training, as well as offer jobs to those who need to grow in the future. Japan is aging with a shrinking workforce, and so it is looking for skilled foreign workers to work for it in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, construction, hospitality, information technology, and engineering.
