Global and Domestic Consumer Brands to Create 5,000 Jobs in India

India’s consumer market is still drawing global and local businesses and several big brands are expected to create almost 5,000 jobs in the next two years, The Economic Times report said. It demonstrates India’s consumption story can thrive even as growth slows in other parts of the world.

PepsiCo is leading this charge and has announced a new beverage flavour production plant in Ujjain which is expected to employ around 500 workers, and further solidifies PepsiCo’s long-term investment in India. “India remains a strategic growth market to us globally,” said Eugene Willemsen, CEO of PepsiCo.

And other global giants are expanding their business. McDonald’s and L’Oréal are hiring for their new global capability centres in India, tapping the country’s talent pool for digital and operational excellence. These centres will provide a high level of employment opportunity and will also help to cement India’s position as a home for international operations.

Meanwhile, companies like Carlsberg and Dabur are expanding their existing digital operations in the country. Such growth not only creates direct employment but also enhances India’s position in the digital transformation strategies of multinational corporations.

As industry experts say, India’s high population, rapid urbanisation, and high demand for consumer goods make it a good growth market. Though the global economy has been at a rough patch, India’s consumer sector remains robust and companies invest in manufacturing and capability centres, and digital platforms—so the consumer economy in India is not only growing but also very competitive.

Job creation will boost jobs for urban and semi-urban areas and job opportunities in manufacturing, technology, operations, and customer engagement. For professionals, this expansion is a good thing to do and this growth is also good news for career opportunities and options in FMCG, food services, and digital fields in the future.

Finally, the entry and expansion of global and local consumer brands underlines India’s strong position as a growth engine. With PepsiCo, McDonald’s, L’Oréal, Carlsberg, and Dabur leading the way, the creation of nearly 5,000 jobs is an indication of India’s market strength and its importance in the future of global consumer industries.
