A sharp drop in SpaceX-linked stock has wiped out more than $500 billion of Elon Musk’s net worth, illustrating the volatility of one of the world’s most closely watched space technology companies. In fact, Musk’s paper wealth was considerably diminished by market reports.

The sell-off is despite Wall Street analysts’ optimism that remains. Evercore ISI has initiated coverage of SPCX - an investment research firm - and it gives a price target of $230, showing that the company’s long-term growth prospects are not going to be affected by recent weakness.
Market players believe that the decline reflects investor caution as the stock had already been performing well and the stock volatility, broader market turbulence and the lack of future growth catalysts are making people cautious. As Elon Musk is so much about the value of his company stock, and so much of those stocks and what he can make of the value of his companies, a large drop in the value of his stocks can have a huge effect on his net worth and therefore his wealth.
Even though SpaceX has corrected, the analysts still see SpaceX's long term outlook positively based on the company's commercial space launches, satellite communications and reusable rocket technology.
Two developments will be important in determining the company’s direction.
The first is Starship Flight 13, the next test mission for SpaceX's fully reusable launch system. Investors will be anxiously watching the mission, as a successful mission could add to the confidence of the company’s future plans for deep space exploration, satellite deployments and future lunar and Mars missions if it turns out to be successful.
The second key catalyst is SpaceX’s continued expansion of Starlink satellite Internet service. Starlink has rapidly built its worldwide subscriber base and remains one of the company’s major revenue drivers. Continued expansion of the network and new commercial partnerships and an increase in adoption could further help to boost investor interest in the business.
Although Musk’s current stock drop has taken a big hit on his fortune on paper, market experts say that fluctuations in valuation for high-growth tech companies are inevitable. Investors’ expectations, macroeconomic status and company-specific developments affect valuations sharply.
The next few months are crucial for SpaceX as investors will be looking for the future of Starship Flight 13, Starlink, and the market condition, as well as the fate of the company, are key to SpaceX in these areas to see how it performs now, but with some of these sectors of the company's future, and what can be expected to happen in the future, and in the upcoming years to review things and the market’s wider market.
For now, analysts remain divided on a short-term and long-term perspective between short-term caution and long-term optimism about SpaceX being one of the most watched companies in the aerospace and technology sector.
