SpaceX Joins Nasdaq-100 Weeks After Record IPO, Market Cap Tops $2 Trillion

SpaceX is finally joining Nasdaq-100 just weeks after the company's huge IPO. The startup will join the Nasdaq-100 now, and will be on it at midday on July 7, 2026. This is the first IPO to be traded on Nasdaq-100. New rules that made IPO seasoning 10 days less time before the IPO were adopted in 2010 also reduced IPO seasoning period to 15 days.

A Record-Breaking Debut

SpaceX went public on June 12, 2026 at $135 per share, raising $75 billion in what was the biggest IPO in the U.S. history. The stock soared almost 20%, pushing the company’s market capitalization to $2 trillion. That meteoric rise briefly placed Elon Musk as the world’s first trillionaire, a testament to the scale of investor interest.

Current Market Performance

SpaceX's shares are now trading around $153, showing a high level of investor confidence for SpaceX’s ambitious projects. Its growth is driven by three main objectives: Starship, the ship-like space exploration program; Starlink satellite internet services; and AI data centers leveraging its infrastructure to support advanced computing technology.

Impact of Nasdaq-100 Inclusion

SpaceX’s entry into the Nasdaq-100 means that index funds, such as Invesco QQQ, will now include SPCX in their portfolios, increasing passive investment inflows, enhancing liquidity, and creating a more diverse investor base. Analysts believe this move will help to cement the company’s long-term value and position in the market, attracting investment from institutional investors as well as retail investors.

A New Era for SpaceX. SpaceX’s quick entry into the Nasdaq-100 shows how rapidly the company is growing and how the stock market is changing. For Musk and his team, it means financial success but also validation of their vision of space exploration, global connectivity, and technological development.

SpaceX’s rise to Nasdaq-100 in less than a month is nothing short of a record. As shares are still strong and projects like Starship, Starlink, and AI data centers are on track for growth, SpaceX is well-placed to remain at the forefront of innovation. For investors, it is the first time that a company will be included in the Nasdaq-100, and it is something that we can only wish to see in the world of Wall Street and space in the next few years.
