EPFO's E-PRAAPTI to Simplify Old PF Claims: Here's How You Can Recover Forgotten Savings

The EPFO is preparing to launch E-PRAAPTI, a new digital initiative that will help employees track and recover their old or forgotten PF accounts faster.

It should take away one of the biggest headaches salaried employees face when they work multiple times and lose track of their PF accounts.

Many employees have switched employers without transferring their PF accounts so there are thousands of inactive or unclaimed PF accounts. EPFO has introduced online services such as Universal Account Number (UAN) linking and online claim processing but many workers still struggle to locate older PF accounts due to incomplete records, inactive UANs, or employer-related issues.

The new E-PRAAPTI platform is set to address these issues, as it will make it easier to identify, verify, and claim old PF accumulations.

While EPFO is not announcing the date of the launch, the project will change the user experience of millions of subscribers.

What is E-PRAAPTI

E-PRAAPTI is expected to serve as a centralized digital platform for EPFO members to search for dormant or unclaimed PF accounts linked to their employment history.

The system will likely use Aadhaar, PAN, UAN, and employment records to identify eligible accounts.

This is part of EPFO’s ongoing digital transformation to make provident fund services faster, more transparent, and paperless.

How Employees May Benefit

Once launched, E-PRAAPTI is expected to have several advantages:

Easier identification of old PF accounts. Faster verification of member details. Simplified online claim process. Less reliance on former employers. Better transparency of PF account status. More timely settlement of eligible claims.

The platform could be particularly useful for employees who have worked in multiple organizations before the UAN system became widely adopted.

How do you find and claim your old PF

If we are to have detailed guidelines after launch, the most likely process will be:

After it becomes available, visit the E-PRAAPTI portal. Log in using your UAN or other approved credentials. Check your Aadhaar, PAN, and bank details. Check for old PF accounts that are associated with your employment history. Verify your account ownership.

Send an online transfer request or withdrawal request. Track the status of your claim through the portal. Importance of updating KYC

Before using the platform, employees must ensure personal information regarding their Aadhaar, PAN, mobile number, and bank account details are correctly linked to their UAN.

Updated KYC information is known to reduce verification time and make claims processed faster.

A Way Toward Digital Governance

EPFO’s launch of E-PRAAPTI is part of a broader push to modernize retirement savings management in India.

As government services move online in the future, the new platform could streamline the process to bring in the money, improve transparency, and help lakhs of workers recover PF savings which might have been left unclaimed otherwise.

A common way to locate long-lost retirement savings is to use E-PRAAPTI, which can be easily done online for people who have moved from job to job and don’t know what PF accounts they had.
