India’s equity markets came under mixed trade on Friday, with the stock market seeing sectoral buying and selling activity driving up prices of a lot of stocks. While defence, automobile, financial services, power and technology sector stocks drew a lot of investors’ interest, jewellery, pharmaceuticals, industrials and building materials counters were under pressure.

A few stocks moved more than 5% during the trading session, which was in fact on the NSE, making them the biggest gainers and losers in the NSE.
Top Gainers on Friday
Astra Microwave Products Leads the Rally
The defence electronics company Astra Microwave Products rose 11.59% to ₹1,926.13 as the biggest climb of the day and was the best-performing defence electronics company on the market.
Hyundai Motor India Surges
Hyundai Motor India saw Hyundai Motor India gain 8.84% to ₹2,196.70 and ranked among the best-performing auto companies.
Bajaj Finance Extends Gains
Bajaj Finance was up 7.51% to ₹1,132.60. The stock also had the highest trading value among the day’s gainers and turnover of ₹2,637 crore.
Other Major Gainers
Indo-MIM rose 6.88% to ₹792.75. Jaiprakash Power Ventures rose 6.76% to ₹18.49 on a much heavier trading volume of 1,599 lakh shares. Nazara Technologies climbed 6.72% to ₹328.75.

Thermax Under Pressure
Thermax Engineering and Capital Goods Company Thermax dropped 7% to ₹3,954, and IT company Nucleus Software Exports slipped 6.52% to ₹690.
Pharma and QSR Stocks Decline
The pharmaceutical company Mankind Pharma dropped 5.24% to ₹2,441, and fast-service restaurant operator Sapphire Foods India lost 4.58% to ₹186.31.

Market remains stock-specific
Although the overall market was mixed, investors were still tracking company developments and sectoral trends. Defence and financial stocks continued to be very popular, and profit booking weighed on jewellery and pharmaceutical shares.
Since trading is still ongoing, analysts are expecting volatility to continue, and with the trading session not yet over, volatility is expected to continue as investors will react to earnings announcements, sector-specific news, and overall market sentiment.
