Reliance Infrastructure shares soared 33% in just six trading sessions, hitting the 5% upper circuit today at ₹85.85 on the NSE. That comes after the company mulled insolvency‑related trading restrictions, and the company’s overall underperformance in 2026 has also attracted investors’ interest.

Reliance Infra’s Recent Rally
Reliance Infrastructure shares have gained 33% in six days and the 5% upper circuit has been held up for at least a week.
The company started out at ₹84.99 and hit its upper limit at ₹85.85 on June 8, 2026.
Reason for Rally: The company has submitted a formal letter to SEBI and BSE and has asked for an overview of ASM (Additional Surveillance Measure) linked to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).
Background & Investor Concerns
Reliance Infra argued that the current ASM structure— which restricts trading to once a week within a narrow 5% band— is bad for over 7 lakh public shareholders. It is the company believing that these restrictions have distorted price discovery and are not in line with operating factors and hence long-term value creation.
Despite the recent rally, Reliance Infra has underperformed in 2026, falling 45% year-to-date, not even close to the 11.3% decline in the Nifty 50 index. In the past year, shares of the company fell 77%.
Financial Snapshot
Q4 FY26 Results: Net profit fell 79% to ₹918 crore, while expenses rose 12%.
Revenue declined by 2.59% in March quarter.
Capital plans: The board has approved raising up to ₹3,000 crore to strengthen operations.
Market Outlook
Even if the short‑term rally is a sign of regulatory relief, Reliance Infra’s fundamentals are bleak, analysts say. The company’s heavy debt load, falling revenues, and past underperformance lead to market concerns; its debt burden and poor performance have a lot to do with the fact that investors are still disheartened.
Reliance Infra’s 33% rise in six days shows how regulatory changes affect the company’s stock momentum. But sustained recovery will depend on SEBI’s decision about trading restrictions and the company’s ability to improve financial performance.
