Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Karnataka is the Election Commission’s important exercise to make sure electoral rolls are correct, inclusive, and up to date. Starting June 30, 2026, and going until July 29, 2026. The main goal of SIR is to verify voter details, add new eligible voters, and remove old or incorrect ones. We do house‑to‑house verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), but we can also do it online, so it is much more convenient and easy to do.
To complete the SIR online, voters have to visit the official Election Commission portal at voters.eci.gov.in. They need to select Karnataka, enter their EPIC number, and verify their details, then log in or sign up. The portal generates a pre‑filled form that requires confirmation of personal information. Voters need to confirm their mobile number associated with the EPIC through an OTP process, and once it is verified, they can send the form digitally. This online submission makes sure that the people’s details are updated in the electoral roll and no paperwork is needed, which is helpful for urban and rural voters alike.
The timeline for the SIR process is well laid out to ensure transparency. The draft electoral roll is released on August 5, 2026, and the claims and objections phase will last until September 4, 2026. Any corrections and objections made during this period will be addressed between August 5 and October 3, 2026. Finally, the updated electoral roll will be officially released on October 7, 2026. This phased approach ensures voters have sufficient time to review their information and request changes if necessary in order to maintain the integrity of the electoral system.
The eligibility criteria for the voter list is to be an Indian citizen, at least 18 years old by October 1, 2026, and to be a resident in the constituency. Voter Facilitation Centres (VFCs) and BLO facilitation centres are set up in Karnataka to help citizens. These centres will be for those who cannot remember their SIR details from 2002, and the portal will also have a search tool for these records. The SIR process is online and offline, and the SIR process will enable all eligible voters to participate as much as possible to benefit from Karnataka’s democratic system.
