Maharashtra was the best investment destination for fresh investments in FY26 with over ₹11.05 lakh crore proposed in the region according to the latest investment data. The western state had a huge lead over other states and has a strong status of being the country's top industrial and business capital.

Andhra Pradesh scored the second spot with new investment proposals of ₹8.95 lakh crore and high-quality infrastructure, manufacturing, renewable energy, and industrial development projects. The positive numbers show the extent to which the state is making the effort to attract both local and international investors via its investor-friendly policies and large-scale industrial corridors.
Rajasthan ranked third in terms of investment proposals with investment proposals of ₹5.31 lakh crore. The state also attracted a lot of interest in renewable energy, mining, infrastructure, and manufacturing and hence its position as an emerging investment destination.
Gujarat and Odisha followed closely with investments of ₹4.71 lakh crore each. Gujarat continued to benefit from its mature industrial ecosystem, ports, and manufacturing capabilities while Odisha saw robust investment inflows in steel, mining, clean energy, and heavy industries.
Karnataka secured sixth position with fresh investments worth ₹3.30 lakh crore. And the state is still the technology capital of India and has attracted a lot of investment in information technology, electronics manufacturing, startups, biotechnology, aerospace, and research & development.
Madhya Pradesh has proposed investment of ₹2.55 lakh crore for new projects based on the growing industrial activity in renewable energy, automobiles, food processing, and logistics. The state is investing in infrastructure and policy reform and new projects are being created.
Telangana followed with ₹2.45 lakh crore of fresh investment. The state is strengthening its position in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, IT services, electronics manufacturing, and data centre investments as a result of its friendly ecosystem.
Uttar Pradesh, India's largest state, attracted investment proposals worth ₹2.41 lakh crore in FY26. Large-scale investments in manufacturing, logistics, expressway projects, electronics, and defence manufacturing made up for the state's performance.
Completing the top ten is Tamil Nadu, with new investments worth ₹2.29 lakh crore. The state continues to remain a preferred destination for automobile production, electric vehicles, electronics, renewable energy, textiles, and industrial production.
The strong investment pipeline across various states reflects growing confidence in India’s economic outlook, expanding manufacturing base, and infrastructure development. Make in India, production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes, better ease of doing business, and increasing domestic consumption have encouraged companies to announce large-scale investment plans across sectors.
Maharashtra remained the lead, but the excellent performance of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, and Karnataka shows that investment opportunities are becoming more diversified across the country. When these projects move from announcement to execution, they can lead to employment, increase industrial output, and make a huge contribution to India’s long-term economic growth.
