Titan shares were at around Rs 5,010 at 9:35 am on the NSE compared to Rs 4,941 as of 9:39 am. The company had posted earnings that were better than market expectations on the profit side of the business.

Titan Q1 Net Profit Rises 63%

Titan Company reported consolidated net profit of Rs 1,777 crore for the quarter, as compared to Rs 1,091 crore in the corresponding period last year. The profit beat the Street estimate of Rs 1,392 crore so much that the bottom line of the company is very much improving.

Revenue from operations increased 29% year-on-year to Rs 21,356 crore from Rs 16,253 crore in the year-ago quarter. Although revenue growth was strong, the figure was slightly below the market estimate of Rs 21,451 crore.

The company’s performance was particularly encouraging. Titan’s EBITDA rose 58% year-on-year to Rs 2,890 crore from Rs 1,830 crore. EBITDA margin improved to 13.5% from 11.1% in the same quarter last year. And the margin also beat that of 10.4%.

The revenue growth, greater operating profitability and improved margins led to the sharp rise in consolidated net profit.

Jewellery Business Always Remains a Driver

Titan’s jewellery business continued to be the main driver of the company’s performance in the quarter. Revenue from the jewellery business increased 30% year-on-year to Rs 19,002 crore.

The earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) from the jewellery segment rose 68% to Rs 2,360 crore. The strong segment profitability shows that the jewellery business is very critical in Titan’s overall earnings performance.

The favourable performance in the jewellery segment will be a key one for investors as they judge Titan's growth prospects for the future. The continued growth of revenue and operating leverage in the segment will very much remain critical to the company’s overall profitability in the future.

Titan Share Price Performance

Titan shares have delivered strong returns over the medium and long term. The stock gained more than 7.78% over the past month and has rallied more than 42% over the past year.

After Q1 results, given the company's excellent earnings performance, investors will be watching closely whether the company's earnings momentum will continue in the rest of FY27. The jewellery segment, margins and consumer demand will be the key factors for the stock to move forward.

Titan had a market capitalisation of approximately Rs 4,45,100.47 crore at the end of the last trading session and was trading at a price-to-earnings multiple of 76.16 times, indicating that the market still gives a premium valuation to the company.

What Investors Should Watch

Titan's Q1 results are mixed on some things but in profitability very strong. While revenue was slightly below the Street estimate, the strong beat on net profit and EBITDA signals a better operating performance.

In the future, investors will now look to how long jewellery revenue grows, profitability margins and consumer demand will be able to sustain the company.

The sharp year-on-year improvement in net profit and a strong jewellery performance is a good start to Titan's FY27 financial year. Investors also need to consider valuation levels and market conditions and future earnings growth as they make investment decisions.
