New York businessman Sanjeev Arora is accused of fraud and money laundering as the accused has been arrested by the fraud and money laundering squad and has been placed on the hit list.

For one thing, the seized property is in the form of movable and immovable properties, financial assets and other belongings that investigators think are associated with the alleged crime and that could be related to it, they said. The move is part of a larger process to identify and secure assets that officials believe may be connected to the allegations.
The seizure was conducted within the legal framework of financial crime and economic crime, the investigating agencies state. Such action is made to preserve assets as the investigation proceeds and the matter is considered by the appropriate judicial authorities.
By naming Sanjeev Arora as Accused No. 1, investigators have said, he is the principal accused in the case at this stage of the proceedings. But legal experts note that being named as an accused is not a conviction. According to Indian law, every accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
All of this is still being investigated with regard to the integrity of financial records, banking records, company records, company documents and any other evidence to determine the extent of the alleged irregularities. Other individuals and/or entities could face scrutiny if evidence is provided that they are involved, officials said.
Economic offence investigations typically involve various agencies working together to trace money movement, identify beneficial ownership of assets and verify if transactions complied with applicable financial regulations. Financial records and cross-verification are complex and require considerable time to resolve.
The case has attracted public interest because of the high value of the assets involved. Financial crime investigations of large asset seizures are generally seen as significant enforcement actions to enhance transparency in the financial system.
The investigators will be able to present the evidence to the court and challenge the claims in court, according to the statement.
Investigators have not come to terms with all the evidence collected in the case and the actual financial misconduct they could have done, either. More will be learned as the court proceedings continue and official statements are made.
The arraignment of Sanjeev Arora as the main accused and the seizure of ₹55 crore are very significant developments in the case. The outcome of the case will be determined by the evidence before the court and the judicial process after that.
