Rajiv Bajaj, Bajaj Auto Managing Director, has said he will step down from his role as a non-executive member of Bajaj Finserv Board at the company’s Annual General Meeting on July 31, 2026. Bajaj said ‘the increased responsibilities at Bajaj Auto’ are the primary reason why he won’t be re-elected and that his focus is to lead the company at the next stage of growth.

Bajaj Auto is undergoing a huge transformation with new technology and credit opportunities and the recently acquired KTM brand. Rajiv Bajaj has said that these growth areas should be addressed by him as well as other officers in the company to further develop the electric mobility and international business opportunities.
Bajaj Finserv has also thanked him for his contribution to the company and for years of service. His departure from the board follows a move made by him earlier this year when he left the board of Bajaj Finance in an apparent shift from Bajaj Auto's operations.
Bajaj Auto has a great history with Rajiv Bajaj. Since joining the board in 2002 and becoming Managing Director in 2005, he has turned Bajaj Auto from a domestic scooter manufacturer into a global motorcycle powerhouse. He has led the company to launch the Pulsar, Dominar, and Chetak EV and has secured partnerships with KTM and Husqvarna.
His announcement has been mostly in line with market reaction with Bajaj Finserv shares rising by almost 1% on June 9, 2026. Analysts are confident that the company will stay the same even though the management has been replaced and Bajaj Auto will benefit from Rajiv Bajaj’s focused attention on expansion, and Bajaj Auto can only expand to the future with Rajiv Bajaj in charge.
Rajiv Bajaj has stepped down from the board at Bajaj Finserv as he has continued to take up the role Bajaj Auto is playing. His management as an entrepreneur will shape the future of the parent company of Bajaj Finserv and the company that will compete for investment in the global automotive industry.
