Kartik Aaryan will reunite with the great filmmaker Kabir Khan to make a really good sports drama. The film is based on the inspiring life of Kashmiri kickboxing champion Tajamul Islam who has been a great person and has touched so many people’s hearts. Kartik Aaryan plays Tajamul’s coach and not Tajamul herself. So the actor is able to think in this way about his mentor’s perspective in the context of sports.
The film will show Tajamul Islam’s incredible journey of kickboxing. Tajamul became the youngest person to win a sub-junior world championship at seven. What was she like in the mountainous valley of Kashmir and what she did in the big sports arena in the world— it is what Kabir Khan will aim to do next.
Kartik Aaryan’s role as Tajamul’s coach presents him with a different kind of challenge because of his previous job as Paralympic Champion Murlikant Petkar in Kabir Khan’s previous film Chandu Champion. Kartik had to be physically transformed to play the character of the real-life sportsman in that film. His partnership with Kabir Khan was widely praised for conveying the reality of a true sports story on the silver screen so well. This is their second film together and it is very hoped that they can do so again.
The film is currently being shot in Mumbai and Kashmir and production is active in Mumbai. The production team has already started shooting at the BMC office in Fort and will be moving to Saki Naka to shoot with Kartik Aaryan and the team. With this fast progress we can definitely see that the project is on the way to completion and the fans are eagerly waiting for it.
Kabir Khan has always been interested in creating really real stories based on sports and his previous work on Chandu Champion with Kartik has made them successful working partners. The movie is based on a young sporting champion and Kartik will play the role of the mentor that guides her on her path to success. This is going to be the sort of story that has an emotional depth of meaning to it, sportsmanship, determination, mentorship and the dogged pursuit of one’s dreams no matter how hard it is.
The film is not yet released and the project has generated much interest and excitement in Bollywood and sports film fans. Tajamul Islam’s story on the big screen is an emotional and inspirational one and this movie will help to convey that in sports it is a tough game.
