Info Edge (India) Ltd, the parent company of platforms such as Naukri.com, reported a healthy year-on-year increase in net profit at ₹500 million in the first quarter of FY27, as the company’s consolidated net profit went up 43% year-on-year to ₹490.1 crore, in comparison to ₹342.9 crore in the same quarter last year.

Despite the strong annual growth, Info Edge's quarterly performance showed a different picture on a sequential basis. The profit declined 35% from ₹755.7 crore in the last quarter, as in the previous quarter, the company's profit dropped by 35% from the March quarter.
The operating revenue was at around ₹880.7 crore during Q1 FY27, an 11% increase compared to last year. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, though, operating revenue grew only by 1% and showed a relatively modest sequential growth.
The contrasting numbers show the difference between Info Edge's year-on-year and sequential performance. Although the company continued to expand its operating business compared to last year, the sharp drop in quarterly profit suggests that other factors than operating revenue also impacted the bottom line.
Info Edge has a diversified digital business with its flagship Naukri platform being one of its core functions. It also has online recruiting, real estate, education and other internet business. So, the performance is of interest to the company as something of a barometer of India's digital economy and employment situation.
The recruitment business is of particular importance for Info Edge. Hiring activity, corporate recruitment budgets and technology and professional talent demand of its flagship platforms are all important factors to its growth in the recruitment business. The company’s business momentum will be affected by whether the employment situation of India and corporate hiring sentiment is affected.
The Q1 results also come at a time when India’s digital and technology companies are increasingly paying attention to profit and sustainable growth to drive revenue growth and not just grow user numbers. Info Edge’s ability to grow revenue through growth but also manage costs and investments will be key to its financial performance in the future quarters.
For investors, the 43% YoY rise in net profit is a positive headline figure, but the 35% sequential decline deserves attention. The modest 1% QoQ increase in operating revenue also suggests investors may focus on the business-specific performance and management commentary to assess whether growth can accelerate during the rest of FY27.
Info Edge’s Q1 FY27 results on the whole are mixed. While profit continued to grow from the previous year, sequential performance was a bit weaker. Operating revenue rose 11% year-on-year to ₹880.7 crore, so the company is still demonstrating business growth, but the sharp quarterly profit decline will remain a key factor to watch for investors.
