Several important LPG-related rules are expected to impact Indane Gas, HP Gas, and Bharat Gas consumers from August 1, 2026. Some changes are part of the monthly pricing mechanism, others are related to LPG subsidies, eKYC compliance, booking procedures, PNG migration, and new lightweight cylinder options. Consumers are advised to stay updated to avoid delays in booking or delivery.
One of the biggest changes expected from August 1 is the monthly revision of LPG cylinder prices by state-owned oil marketing companies—Indian Oil (Indane), Bharat Petroleum (Bharat Gas), and Hindustan Petroleum (HP Gas). LPG prices are reviewed on the first day of every month and can increase, decrease, or remain unchanged depending on the international crude oil prices and market conditions. And with global crude prices at a high, market observers say there will be a hike in prices of domestic LPG cylinders this month.
Another important requirement is eKYC compliance. Consumers who have not yet completed Aadhaar-based biometric verification are advised to do so as soon as possible. Existing customers who have already completed eKYC do not need to repeat the process. The requirement mainly applies to consumers whose verification is still pending.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries will still receive the revised subsidy policy from August. Eligible households will be provided with a subsidy of ₹300 per cylinder on the first four refills in a financial year, and that will replace the higher refill limit. This will mean that the beneficiaries will receive ₹1,200 in the current scheme.
And consumers living in areas where PNG is available should also make one key point. Households should have only one cooking gas connection. Those moving permanently to PNG may have to surrender their LPG connection within the set time frame, but then regain it if they are later moved to an area without PNG service.
Digital booking and delivery verification rules also apply. Customers can book LPG cylinders in official apps, on websites, or through registered mobile numbers. At the time of delivery, an OTP-based Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) must be shared with the delivery executive to complete the transaction and without OTP verification, delivery cannot take place. Refillings must also take place in 25 days for urban customers and 45 days for rural customers.
Oil marketing companies are also expanding access to lightweight composite LPG cylinders. New products such as Indane XTRALITE NOW, HP Navya, and Bharatgas Lite ZIP offer faster delivery, lighter cylinders, and improved convenience in select cities and will be rolled out across India.
Consumers should complete pending eKYC, check their LPG connection status, and be aware of the new pricing announcement in advance of booking the next cylinder in August.
