EPFO Portal to Remain Unavailable from June 26-28 Due to System Upgrade; Claims and Online Services to Be Affected

EPFO has announced that its online portal will be temporarily unavailable from June 26 to June 28, 2026. The system migration and database upgrade are carried out to ensure that the service delivery is more efficient.

The temporary shutdown is part of an all-out tech overhaul, which will include database consolidation and software application tweaks. EPFO said the goal is to improve processing efficiency, improve operational efficiency, and make EPF subscribers’ experience better for millions of them.

In an official notification, EPFO said that claim submission and claim processing services through its portal will remain unavailable from 12:00 AM on June 26 until 11:59 PM on June 28. Members who would like to file withdrawal claims, transfer requests or use certain online services are advised to do so before the scheduled maintenance window begins.

Who will be affected?

The temporary disruption will impact EPF members who depend on the EPFO portal for various online services. If the migration is disrupted, users may not be able to:

  1. Submit new EPF claims
  2. Track claim processing through the portal.
  3. Use online account services.
  4. Member facilities use a portal-based.

As the maintenance period is on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, members who need to make plans ahead of time should be notified.

What are other ways to access EPF services?

EPFO has assured subscribers that there are other channels to access important account information even if there is a portal outage.

Members can continue to:

  1. Check the PF account balance through the UMANG app.
  2. See EPF passbooks through alternate services.
  3. Track claim status through supported channels.
  4. Get account details via SMS services linked to their UAN.
  5. Use the missed call facility to receive account information.
  6. All EPFO’s WhatsApp-based services provide support and updates, and also provide access to support and updates.

Such alternatives will allow subscribers to keep the information about their accounts open even when the main portal is not available.

What improvements Can Users Expect?

The system migration is expected to bring huge improvements. EPFO has said that members can expect to receive claim settlements quicker, faster processing, and a more user-friendly experience.

Some of the expected improvements are a simpler passbook interface, a more responsive system and improved member requests and claims. EPFO’s digital infrastructure is being modernised to better serve its growing subscriber base and enhance service quality.

Advisory for EPF Members

EPFO has advised members not to make fast online transactions during the maintenance period. Subscribers who need to submit claims, verify balances, or download documents should do so before June 26.

After the migration is completed on June 28, all portal services will be back in action with improved functionality and better performance. Members can then access their accounts and complete pending transactions with the improved system.

The short-term inconvenience, EPFO says, is part and parcel of enabling the delivery of faster, more reliable and efficient services to millions of provident fund subscribers across India.
