Elon Musk has once again captivated the world with a bold prediction about the future of SpaceX. After the company’s massive public debut, Musk said SpaceX could be more valuable than the entire economy of Earth in the long run for a future that will see humans build a self-sustaining civilization on Mars and then grow the world’s space economy.

The comments come after SpaceX’s record-breaking IPO in June 2026 in which it raised $75 billion after pricing shares at $135 each. The listing propelled SpaceX to a market value of $2.2 trillion and then back down to about $1.95 trillion and placed it among the world’s most valuable publicly traded companies.
Musk says the company’s biggest future opportunity is far beyond rocketry. By his vision, the fully reusable Starship spacecraft will take people and cargo to Mars and create a city with well-ordered and self-sufficient citizens. The breakthrough, he says, would change the game for all of us.
Starlink - SpaceX's satellite internet service network - is one of its fastest-growing businesses. Starlink is expanding worldwide with broadband connectivity for consumers, businesses, airlines, ships, and government agencies. But analysts believe recurring revenue from Starlink could also support SpaceX's long-term success and will contribute to SpaceX's long-term growth alongside launch services.
Musk’s ambitious forecast has drawn mixed reactions from the financial and technology business community. SpaceX supporters say SpaceX is well aware of the fantastic things it has achieved in the past two decades— it’s pioneered reusable rockets, drastically cut launch costs, expanded satellite internet access, and led commercial spaceflight. They say SpaceX is a company that has already accomplished something that at one point in time was considered impossible.
But skeptics say that the vision remains a very ambitious one. Mars colonization, Starship missions, and a trillion-dollar space economy face major technological, regulatory, and financial problems, analysts say. Some valuation experts say SpaceX's current fair value is much lower than its market capitalization, while others are convinced that investors have already priced in decades of future growth.
There are many who would argue that SpaceX has had an impact on the aerospace industry but few people agree on it. The company has transformed commercial spaceflight, expedited satellite deployment, and revived worldwide interest in space exploration. Whether or not it ultimately becomes more valuable than the entire world economy, Musk’s prediction is proof that Musk’s new prediction is a sign of what a company that dreams to make humanity a multi-planetary civilization and build one of the world’s most influential tech companies is able to do.
