Dixon Technologies Ltd shares rallied as much as 3.43% on Tuesday as news that the company’s proposed joint venture with Vivo is closer to getting final government approval. The Centre is in the final stages of issuing the approval letter, NDTV Profit reported, which has strengthened investor sentiment and pushed the stock up.

The joint venture, which aims to increase domestic smartphone manufacturing, had earlier cleared an inter‑ministerial panel this month. This was a step in a process towards formalising the partnership and enables Dixon and Vivo to share knowledge and scale up production capacity and help India to become an important player in the international electronics supply chain.
Dixon Technologies, one of India’s leading contract manufacturers, will benefit from the JV for more diversification of its product line and entry into the smartphone market. Vivo's entry into the global market with its global network will further strengthen Dixon’s position in the “Make in India” ecosystem and strengthen Dixon’s market advantage in the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) sector.
Vivo, on the other hand, will benefit from Dixon’s manufacturing experience and local infrastructure in a partnership. As India is one of the fastest growing smartphone markets, the JV will help Vivo scale production efficiently and will be in line with government policies which promote domestic manufacturing and reduce import dependence.
Market experts feel that the stock rally is a vote of confidence not just in Dixon’s prospects but also in the electronics industry in general. Such ventures are cleared so the government has a firm interest in boosting local manufacturing and attracting foreign investment.
The final approval letter from the Centre will be critical and the JV will start to work and implement plans. Investors will be watching out for this news, as it will certainly boost Dixon’s stock price further and start up collaborations in the sector.
Dixon Technologies’ 3.43% gain shows that the market is confident in the company’s upcoming joint venture with Vivo. And while the regulatory approval is still being reached, this partnership will change the way we grow smartphone manufacturing in India and will help to make it more profitable for the two companies and also further the country’s dreams of getting into the global electronics market.
