The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that updating your email ID on the Aadhaar app will now be free of charge. The application had to pay ₹75 for this service but that is being waived to get people to keep their Aadhaar information correct and up to date.

This is part of UIDAI’s overall approach to streamline Aadhaar services and make them more accessible to citizens. The fee is not being paid, as no one will need to be made aware of it, and if they need to check on their contact details and access government services associated with Aadhaar in advance.
The waiver is valid until December 2026 so citizens have sufficient time to update their Aadhaar without worrying about additional costs. Aadhaar updates will increase in the time period and those who have previously delayed it due to the fee will benefit particularly from this waiver.
With a correct email ID, users can get access to messages and alerts, OTPs, and important communication from UIDAI directly to reduce their risk of fraud or misuse. It also makes it easier to access online services that require Aadhaar authentication.
So citizens can update their email through the Aadhaar app or at any Aadhaar enrollment center. The whole process is simple; all you need is basic verification and to submit the details. Since the fee has been waived, the update can be done instantly and without cost.
Finally, the free Aadhaar email update from UIDAI until the end of December 2026 is appreciated by the public. It will save millions of people money and increase their digital security and accessibility. People who haven't updated their email still have a window to update their Aadhaar correctly and secure it.
