No More TCS Layoffs: Chandrasekaran Assures Workforce Stability Amid Global Tech Cuts

TCS, Tata Consultancy Services, has ruled out further layoffs, saying that workers and investors will not see the company’s workforce shrinking. His comments come at a time of huge job cuts across the global tech industry, which is a relief for TCS's 600,000‑plus staff.

Chandrasekaran has also reiterated that TCS is committed to long-term growth and stability. Although tech companies in the world are redesigning the technology industry around automation and artificial intelligence, TCS will focus on job reskilling and redeployment rather than layoffs, Chandrasekaran said at a recent industry event. It is in keeping with the philosophy of the company’s culture of talent development and maintaining a strong organizational culture.

The reassurance is especially important given that the layoffs announced by big tech firms in 2026 include Meta, PayPal, Cisco, and several Indian startups. Chandrasekaran’s declaration positions TCS as a stabilizing force in an otherwise turbulent industry, cementing its reputation as a people‑centric employer.

TCS has traditionally not had large-scale layoffs but rather retrained staff to adapt to changing client needs. And as digital transformation, cloud adoption, and AI integration are coming up for TCS, the company thinks it is very good to have a workforce that can respond to these changes. Chandrasekaran said TCS’ investment in education platforms and internal mobility programs are about keeping people relevant to a rapidly changing market.

Industry analysts view this stance as strategic and symbolic. By ruling out layoffs, TCS generates a sense of trust and loyalty in its workforce, which can build employee morale and loyalty to the company’s global projects as highly complex projects are very important to be able to scale up and deliver in a global market. This also sets the company apart from competitors that have taken more aggressive cost‑cutting measures.

Chandrasekaran’s assertion that there will be no more layoffs at TCS underscores the firm’s confidence in its growth trajectory and commitment to its workers. TCS’s attitude towards reskilling and stability is a model for talent management in a world of uncertainty with changing employees in the tech sector. Investor sentiment will be lifted by the news, and TCS will also be appreciated for being one of India's most reliable IT companies.
