India's social media platform ShareChat, which is often compared to Meta, is preparing for a major public offering. According to industry reports, the company is targeting a $400 million IPO in 2027, a major step in its growth from a startup to one of India's most influential digital platforms.

Mohalla Tech Pvt. Ltd. operates ShareChat, Moj, and QuickTV, which are its three main platforms. It is this combination of platforms that has generated a large user base in India, especially in the regional languages. The board has decided to go public because it has seen operational profitability in early FY27, which has raised the level of investor confidence and is the beginning of development.
The company has just crossed ₹10 billion ($105 million) in annual revenue and has been growing at a rate of 23% per year. With an eye to micro-dramas and short-form content, ShareChat has grown by 30% year-on-year and has a huge audience. The genre, with its serialized 60-second episodes and its more than 65 million monthly viewers and 700 million daily views, has become a cultural phenomenon.
The boom in micro-dramas has established ShareChat as a leader in India’s fast-growing digital entertainment market. The segment is expected to grow at a 31% CAGR to $4.5 billion by 2030. ShareChat has not only tapped into this trend but also strengthened its monetization strategies, and its IPO plans are closer to reality.
Artificial intelligence has played a crucial part in this growth. From personalized content recommendations to the development of advanced advertising services, AI has helped in increasing user engagement as well as lowering production costs. Generative AI, in particular, has simplified micro-drama creation, improving efficiency and margins. Industry experts predict that the integration of AI could increase ShareChat’s profitability by 5–7% in the next two years.
ShareChat’s planned $400 million IPO is an important moment for India’s digital ecosystem. By integrating regional language dominance, new content formats, and AI-powered strategies, the company is positioning itself as a formidable competitor to global giants like Meta. If it’s successful, the IPO will not only validate ShareChat’s business model but also highlight the growing influence of Indian tech companies on the global stage.
