SBI Funds $1.2 Billion India IPO Launches July 13, 2026

SBI Funds Management, India’s largest asset manager, is preparing for its eagerly awaited $1.2 billion IPO, which is going to take place on July 13, 2026. It is one of the biggest IPOs in financial services and all eyes are on the company. The IPO will be structured as an Offer for Sale (OFS) and the promoters State Bank of India and France’s Amundi will put their shares up for sale.

The issue size is estimated to be around ₹11,400 crore and 20.37 crore equity shares will be available for the public. The price band would be announced on July 9, 2026, ahead of the opening. The shares will be made public on the NSE and BSE and investors will have a strong chance of getting into the country’s largest asset manager.

Founded in 1987, SBI Funds is one of the world’s leading mutual funds companies and has an investment in excess of ₹12.49 lakh crore (as of December 2025) as an asset under management (AUM) with a 15.4% share of India’s mutual fund industry. A number of products are available to both equity, debt, hybrid funds, ETFs, and passive investment options. A strong retail investor base, particularly through SIPs, is the main driver of growth.

The IPO is not just big but also important to the asset management industry. SBI Funds will be listed next to HDFC AMC, Nippon Life India AMC, and UTI AMC for a total of $12.3 billion. Analysts see it as an opportunity for a new investor to own a stake in India’s fastest-growing AMC.

But the company faces challenges that could impact its future performance. Regulatory changes, especially around the Total Expense Ratio (TER), could affect profitability. Additionally, the rapid growth of passive investing through ETFs and index funds could put pressure on margins. Competition from established players in the AMC space also remains a factor to watch.

In conclusion, SBI Funds’ $1.2 billion IPO marks the birth of an international company with a great brand, scale, and distribution capability that will help to make it the company to grow in India (the company is well placed to do so in the long term with its strong brand and size and distribution network). The IPO is expected to draw a lot of investor interest and cement India’s status as a capital markets center of attraction.
