The Financial assistance for the marriage of Daughters of Poor Widows and Orphan Girls is a welfare initiative of the Government of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. This scheme will reduce the financial burden of marriage expenses for economically weaker families by providing one-time financial assistance to eligible poor widows and orphan girls.

Through the Department of Social Welfare, this scheme provides for the marriage of up to two daughters of eligible widows to allow them to marry, and support orphans and their guardians, foster parents, or institutions responsible for their care. The initiative is a reflection of government policy in social welfare and the welfare of vulnerable groups in society.

Objective of the Scheme

The scheme has to provide financial support to:

  • Poor widows for the marriage of up to two daughters
  • Orphan girls who are arranging their own marriage
  • Guardians, foster parents, relatives, or recognized institutions caring for orphan girls

The scheme will reduce the financial strain of marriage while creating social security and dignity for the lowest income women and families.

Financial Benefit

The eligible applicants are awarded one-time financial assistance of ₹30,000 for the marriage of each eligible daughter, up to two daughters.

The amount is transferred to the applicant's eligible Aadhaar-linked bank account once verification and approval is complete.

Eligibility Criteria

In this case, we need applicants to have the following conditions:

  • The marriage of up to two daughters is only eligible for financial assistance
  • The applicant needs to be a resident of Delhi for at least five years before applying
  • The annual family income should be less than ₹1,00,000 from all sources of income, including salary, rent, interest, investments, agriculture, and other income
  • The applicant needs to have a valid Aadhaar number
  • The applicant should have a single-operated Aadhaar-linked bank account in any bank in the NCT of Delhi
  • The applicant should not have received financial assistance for the same purpose from the discretionary fund of the Lieutenant Governor or Chief Minister of Delhi
  • The girl whose marriage is being supported must be 18 years or older on the date of marriage
  • Applications should be submitted within 60 days before or after the date of marriage

Application Process

Online Application

Eligible applicants can apply through the Delhi e-District Portal.

Registration Process

Visit the official Delhi e-District Portal.

  • Click on New User Registration
  • Choose Aadhaar or Voter ID for registration
  • Enter the required identification details and captcha
  • Complete the registration form with personal and residential information
  • Receive your Login ID and Password via registered mobile number or email

Scheme Application Steps

  • Log in using the registered credentials
  • Select Apply Online
  • Choose the Department of Women & Child Development
  • Select the Financial Assistance for the Marriage of Daughters of Poor Widows and Orphan Girls Scheme
  • Fill in the application form carefully
  • Upload all required documents
  • Upload the applicant's photograph
  • Verify using the OTP sent to the registered mobile number
  • Submit the application and save the acknowledgment receipt for future reference

 Documents Required

Applicants should submit self-attested copies of the following documents:

  • Recommendation from the local MLA or Member of Parliament
  • Husband’s death certificate (for widow applicants). Aadhaar Card
  • Residence proof showing at least five years of residence in Delhi
  • Ration Card, Voter ID, or other valid address proof. Income self-declaration
  • Age proof of the girl (Birth Certificate or School Leaving Certificate)
  • Marriage invitation card. Single-operated Aadhaar-linked bank account details
  • Bank passbook or bank statement for the previous year
  • Passport-size photograph of the applicant.
  • Photograph of the marriage ceremony
  • Self-declaration stating that no similar financial assistance has been received from any other government or non-government organization

Additional documents for orphan girls include:

  • Affidavit or certificate confirming orphan status
  • Guardian or foster parent affidavit where applicable
  • SC/ST caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Minority self-declaration verified by the concerned religious institution (where applicable)

Important Points to Remember

  •  Only eligible applicants meeting all conditions can receive assistance
  • Incomplete applications or missing documents may delay processing
  • Ensure that Aadhaar details and bank account information are accurate
  • Applications submitted beyond the prescribed timeline may not be considered
  • Applicants should retain the acknowledgment receipt until the application is processed
