At the NSE listing price of Rs 131, Shiprocket shares were at about a 35% premium to the issue price. On BSE, the stock's listing was about 33.51%. The strong debut was in line with market expectations, as the company's IPO attracted very high interest from investors just weeks before the listing.

The Shiprocket IPO had an issue price of Rs 97 per share. The company's strong listing was also a strong indication that investors who bought shares in the retail quota were sitting on huge listing gains right after the stock entered the secondary market.

Shiprocket IPO subscription crosses 100 times

The strong listing was supported by extremely strong demand during the IPO subscription period.

The Shiprocket IPO was subscribed 102.28 times in total, which shows the high interest among different types of investors.

The qualified institutional buyers (QIB) portion was subscribed 125.20 times, while the non-institutional investor (NII) category received 92.58 times. The retail investor portion was subscribed 48.38 times.

Such strong subscription numbers had already led to expectations of a strong stock market debut. A grey market premium (GMP) of Shiprocket shares was around Rs 35 on the morning of the listing, also indicating good sentiment among investors.

What does Shiprocket do?

Shiprocket was established in 2011 and is an e-commerce enablement platform. The company provides technology-enabled solutions to help micro, small and medium enterprises, direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands and large retailers to manage and grow their online and offline businesses.

According to a Redseer report cited in the company's documents, Shiprocket was India's largest new-age end-to-end e-commerce enablement platform by revenue in FY25.

The company’s core operations comprise domestic shipping and shipping software. Its technology platform is used to provide instant pickups, order tracking, secure deliveries, weight verification, and instant cash-on-delivery payment settlement for payments.

Shiprocket has expanded beyond the shipping business in recent years. It provides cargo and fulfilment services, including Shiprocket Omuni, cross-border shipping, advertising & marketing solutions, and merchant solutions through its Emerging Business segment.

International presence

Shiprocket has also expanded its international shipping capabilities. The company connects Indian companies to customers and markets in the US, UK, Canada, Europe and Singapore.

Shiprocket served customers in 146 countries during FY26 as part of the growing international presence of Shiprocket.

The increase in cross-border commerce means that companies like ours can benefit from the increasing number of Indian companies that sell products to customers outside our country.

How will Shiprocket use IPO proceeds?

The IPO proceeds, the company's prospectus states, will fund the expansion of the business, technology development, marketing and other corporate needs.

The majority of the funds will be used to grow Shiprocket's platforms, with marketing efforts focused on its Emerging Business and Core Business segments.

The company has also earmarked funds for improving its technology infrastructure and capabilities. About Rs 159.80 crore is proposed to be deployed towards technology infrastructure and capabilities for the Emerging Business and Core Business.

Another Rs 210 crore has been allocated for repayment or prepayment of certain borrowings.

They also have certain provisions for acquiring new companies and pursuing other strategic business activities.

What should investors do after the strong listing?

The sharp listing premium has provided IPO allottees with an opportunity to book gains. But a good debut does not mean how a stock will perform in the long term.

Investors should take Shiprocket’s growth in the business, profitability, competitive position, valuation, cash flow and expansion plan into account before taking any investment decision.

The business operates in a very fast-paced e-commerce and logistics world in which growth is very big but competition is also intense. Investors should therefore differentiate between short-term listing gains and the company's long-term fundamentals.

Shiprocket’s strong IPO subscription and 35% listing premium show the market’s desire for an expansion of the company’s story. If the stock can sustain the initial momentum, it will come down to how much the company can grow its business, improve financial performance and create value as a listed company.
